ELKTON, MD, February 1, 2017/The Palette & The Page/- The March 3, 2017 First Friday Elkton Art Loop Event features an Opening Reception with live music from 5pm-8pm.

The First Friday Event, March 3, 2017 at The Palette & The Page gallery, features the opportunity to meet two local visiting artists, William Dodds and Victoria Kavalerov, at the Opening Reception for “Constructing with Dot & Clay” from 5pm-8pm. On Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5pm-8pm William Dodds, pen & ink artist and Victoria Kavalerov, ceramic artist will be present at the Opening Reception for  “Constructing with Dot & Clay.”  These two local artists visiting The Palette & The Page for the month of March look forward to sharing their artistic passion.  Their artwork will be featured in the Special Exhibit Gallery through March 31, 2017.  Tom Christiansen returns to entertain with his music during the evening.

A native of Pennsylvania, William Dodds grew up in the midst of the Allegheny National Forest. As a sportsman, he spent much time in the woods and learned to enjoy and appreciate nature.  Nature’s beauty is incomparable and irresistible. He learned to recognize and appreciate how nature creates its own grace and art over time. Using time as it‘s palette, nature provides the unimaginable character that provides Bill with the opportunity to bring a weathered aging piece of wood, or an old structure to life.  Through the style of Pointillism, Bill uses the pen point to create the detail and contrast of dark and light areas to visually excite the viewer.

Victoria Kavalerov came to the USA 20 years ago and now lives in Pennsylvania. She was introduced to ceramics by a new friend and discovered an unknown happy "self". All these years she was associated with Art Centers in the Philadelphia suburbs. Making mostly functional ceramics, she is trying to provoke the viewer to make up images for each piece: a summer breeze in the forest, the stormy sky over a city, a Roman general, a peasant girl. Her process of making pottery is an ability to enjoy the creative process freely, without fear of doing wrong, with absolute certainty in success.

The exhibit will continue from Tuesday, February 28th through Friday, March 31st.

Pianist Tom Christiansen will be performing live music during the Opening Reception.

    The Event is FREE.
