Cecil County Earns 31st Consecutive Annual Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

ELKTON, MD -- Cecil County Government has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). This is the 31st consecutive year that Cecil County has received this recognition.

"This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and is made possible by the hard work and dedication of the entire department," said Lisa Saxton, Cecil County's Acting Director of Finance. "Special recognition goes to our accounting manager, Jeffrey Koss, who ensures that the reporting is completed both timely and accurately."

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
