    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    April 24, 2018

ELKTON, MD. – Cecil County Executive Alan McCarthy is pleased to announce the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for the Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) Grant Program for FY 2019. As a result of having a video lottery terminal (casino) in Cecil County, nonprofit and not-for-profit organizations and state, county and municipal government agencies are eligible to apply for grants to improve local resources and services in the community. Grant applications must indicate how the funding will be used to address the needs of the community and/or population served in one of four purpose areas: Economic Development, Education, Infrastructure, or Safe, Healthy and Active Communities.

There have been revisions for FY2019 to the Program/Purpose areas for the grant. Interested applicants should be sure to use the current application and to review it carefully. An informational workshop will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 for interested parties to receive an overview of the Notice of Funding Availability and to ask questions. The workshop will take place in the Cecil County Administration Building Elk Room, 200 Chesapeake Boulevard, Elkton, from 10AM – 12PM.

The deadline for applications is the close of business (4:30 PM) on Friday, May 18, 2018. Funding for the VLT grant program is contingent upon the availability of revenue from the gaming facility in Perryville, which is provided to the County through a Local Impact Grant from the State of Maryland, and upon approved County budget authority. The Application for VLT FY2019 is available online. You may also contact Barbara Smith at the Department of Community Services, 410-996-8430 or bsmith@ccgov.org.
